“Son, Give me your heart,” Jesus says through the Spirit of wisdom from the book of Proverbs, yet, we see that Jesus, our eternal Commander, makes provision for this vital organ of man – the breastplate of righteousness.

Giving worship to God for His mighty acts and care is a custom of both the authority and members of the Light Giving and Life Transforming Church. This is so because as a body of Christ, God’s goodness will – in no way – be counted as common.

As seen already, the whole armour of God is a theme that is in-exhaustive but with the wisdom of God, enlightenment is being given to the church of God on this very crucial topic so that no one would be left ignorant of the wiles of the devil.

Proceeding therefore from the “Belt of Truth”, another very important armour was considered and this is the “Breastplate of Righteousness”: because it figuratively guards one of the most vital organs in the human body.

Pastor Joseph Akinyomi explained that the word before the armour pointed to an action that is solely in the hands of a believer to take because the word is, “Put on therefore”.

This word led to the discussion of the Biblical Concept of Righteousness so that the Righteousness discussed in the scriptures won’t be mistaken for another form of righteousness.

He gave the breakdown that there are three types of righteousness in the word of God, and they are: “Natural Righteousness” (Isaiah 64:6,7) which is born with man; “Imputed Righteousness” (Romans 3:22-24) which is the righteousness God accounts to a believer who confesses Jesus as Lord.

This second righteousness, as he pointed out, cannot be put on or off a believer by works, actions or deeds. The third and final righteousness, which is the righteousness required to put on the breastplate of righteousness, is the “Practical Righteousness” (Ephesians 6:14b).

The latter form of righteousness is produced by the Holy Spirit in the believers (Phil. 1:11) and it can be made to crack by sin unjudged or unconfessed, unforgiveness and failure of either the man or woman to provide for their family.

These defects in the breastplate of righteousness give room for the enemy to strike. The Church however is no longer ignorant of the devices of the enemy. Therefore, confess all sins, forgive all who trespass against you, and be responsible to your family. These actions make the “practical righteousness”.
